Call Committee: Advent’s Call Committee met on August 15 to discuss the surveys and comments that were submitted by the congregation regarding the Pastor’s visits. After reviewing the positive scoring and comments, it was decided to schedule a Pastoral Call Service as soon as possible.

The Service will be held on Sunday, August 27 and will start approximately 15 minutes following Advent’s Sunday morning worship service. It’s very important for everyone to attend and participate in this wonderful, Spirit-directed service and help select our next Pastor. All members, friends, and family of Advent are encouraged to attend. However, as stipulated by our Constitution, only members in good standing will be given ballots at the beginning of the service.

For those members who have previously planned to be out of town and can’t cancel, you may cast a vote by requesting a proxy ballot from Karla Byrnes (kmkbyrnes@gmail.com) This should be signed and sealed and must be returned to a member of the Call Committee prior to August 27.

Call Committee: Thank you to everyone who helped with and attended the pastor’s visits this week. Surveys for both pastors are available in the narthex and online. If at all possible, please complete the surveys online. Links to the surveys were emailed this week.

If you can’t complete them online, fill out the printed version and return it to the survey box in the narthex no later than Sunday morning, August 13. Responses will be compiled on Sunday afternoon and the call committee will meet Tuesday night, August 15 to review them. Want to be part of the FESTIVAL CHORUS, ORCHESTRA, and HANDBELL CHOIR? – All youth and adult singers and advanced youth and adult instrumentalists and ringers are invited to join us for the Celebration on Sunday, November 5 at Dorton Arena in Raleigh, NC. Conducted by Maestro Alfred Sturgis, the chorus and orchestra will rehearse 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon and will help lead the Worship Service at 12:30 p.m.

A Choral Clinic with Dr. Sturgis will be held from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. and a Festival Handbell Workshop and Massed Ring from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m.
