21 July 2017 – Advent Announcements

Call Committee: The Call Committee interviewed three candidates this week. We will be inviting two of the pastors for in-person interviews and to meet the congregation. John Stow will provide a more detailed update Sunday morning. As always, your questions, feedback, suggestions, and especially your prayers are welcome and encouraged!

Change the World One Life at a Time – Volunteer Sign Up Information:Those wishing to volunteer to help with the Change the World One Day at a Time 500th Anniversary event on November 5th can now sign up to help on line. Go to www.trianglefaith.org. This will bring up the Change the World One Life at a Time site. Scroll down to Volunteer Sign Up and click on it. Fill out the form and submit.

Women’s Evening Bible Study continues through the summer. We will meet on Wednesday, July 26 at 7:00 p.m. We are studying “Bad Girls of the Bible,” by Liz Curtis Higgs. No homework. No need to buy the book. Each evening study is independent so join us as your life allows.

Call Committee: The Call Committee has selected three candidates for telephone interviews. The interviews will take place on July 19 and 20. The profiles are available in the green binder in the narthex. As always, your questions, feedback, suggestions, and especially your prayers are welcome and encouraged!

30 June 2017 – Advent Announcements

Call Committee: We received a list of eight names from the SED. Pastor Lineberger has contacted each pastor to see whether there is any reason they could not consider a call to Advent. Two have declined and we have not yet received info on one pastor nominated by Advent. The Call Committee is reviewing the profiles of each pastor and will meet on July 5 to prioritize which candidates we would like to interview. The profiles will be available in the green binder in the narthex. As always, your questions, feedback, suggestions, and especially your prayers are welcome and encouraged!

Call Committee: The Southeastern District will be mailing a new call list to us today. Once we have the list, Pastor Lineberger will contact each pastor to see whether there is any reason they could not consider a call to Advent. The Call Committee will then begin reviewing the profiles of each pastor. The profiles will also be available for you to read. As always, your questions, feedback, suggestions, and especially your prayers are welcome and encouraged!

Voters Meeting will be this Sunday, June 25 immediately after the worship service. The meeting will include a brief financial update, an update on the call process, a vote on 2017 mission funding, and the election of Council members. The slate for the election: President – Dave Neely; Recording Secretary – Karen Baker; Board of Church Properties – Outside: Paul Simis, Inside: Clay Wriedt; Board of Finance – Judy Neely; Board of Education – open.

Memorial Service: A memorial service for Pauline Ramsey will be held at Advent Lutheran Church, Chapel Hill, NC on Sunday, June 4, 2017 at 4:00 pm. Pastor Larry Lineberger will be officiating. We continue to keep her family in our prayers.
