| NO LIVE/IN-PERSON WORSHIP AT THIS TIME. Unfortunately, this spike chart to the right does not represent people becoming believers in Christ, or even our stock market accounts, but it signifies that the numbers of Coronavirus cases in North Carolina is spiking. We hit our highest number of cases today (7/11), at 2462, and our 7 day rolling total is nearing 2000 cases per day. The virus is spreading and the numbers are significantly going the wrong direction. Keep praying! One of the main deciders of our returning to worship, with nearly half of Advent’s populous fitting the “High Risk” category, is the numbers of cases. Also, hospitals have not reached capacity yet, but it could be nearing. That said, our ACTS Group (Advent’s Coronavirus Team of Safety) has lovingly, cautiously and meticulously determined that there is NO DATE SET for us to meet in live/in-person worship at this time. We believe waiting is the prudent, caring, compassionate and loving thing to do. Our ACTS Group meets on a an nearly week to week basis, and our next meeting will be with Church Council as well. Helping Those in Need During CoVid-19 – We continue to reach out during this time and we have checked with PORCH (People Offering Relief for Chapel Hill-Carrboro Homes). The best way to work with them as we are in this pandemic, is to go directly to their website: www.chapelhill.porchcommunities.org Then, click on the floating banner in red, which says Click here for how to help during COVID-19 crisis. They accept financial donations, they then safely provide to those who are in need of help. For non-perishable food donations, they are referring people to places we have worked with before, such as: Inter-faith Council For Social Services http://www.ifcweb.org and Orange Congregations In Mission www.ocimnc.org.
